Senior Public Relations Manager

Simple Retro seeks a Senior Public Relations Manager to join our creative team. The candidate must have a proven history of developing and implementing public relations plans, forging, and maintaining relationships with media and social influences, managing media coverage to ensure messaging is aligned with brand’s priority, and guiding the team. At Simple Retro, we value consistent, accurate, timely, effective, and creative communication.

The Essentials

  • Bachelor’s degree in communications, media, journalism, or a related field
  • Excellent written and verbal skills
  • Minimum 5+ years of experience in public relations
  • Knowledge of regional and local media
  • Ability to write and execute press releases, editorial content, and pitches
  • Experience in the development and implementation of communications campaigns
  • Experience with event management
  • Proactive and organized with excellent time management skills
  • Ability to multitask and manage several projects at once
  • Ability to lead a small team
  • Ability to develop innovative ways to market clients’ events and services

 

Essential Functions

  • Build strategic messaging and communications to inform and engage external audiences.
  • Develop email communications, talking points, newsletters, videos, scripts, presentations and other support materials.
  • Utilize metrics to measure the success of current communications and make adjustments as needed.
  • Enhance storytelling and amplification to express Simple Retro’s brand attributes and strategic vision.

Qualifications And Competencies

  • Bachelor’s degree in communications, public relations, organizational communications or journalism required.
  • 4+ years of stores/retail or consumer communications experience.
  • Demonstrated expertise in corporate communications, with specialization in external communications, and retail related topics/programs.
  • Strong personal impact with the ability to easily build relationships and credibility.
  • Flexible approach to work with ability to toggle between projects and priorities in a high-pressure environment.
  • Practices open and continuous communication, values keeping others informed, effectively presenting information in a clear, concise manner.
  • Excellent leadership, facilitation, and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work across functional lines and at many levels.
  • Self-driven with ability to work independently and effectively plan and execute strategies to achieve priorities.
  • Ability to perform in a fast-paced, goal-oriented, and time-sensitive environment.
  • Ability to think creatively, strategically and technically.
  • Proficiency with MS Office computer programs are required.
